Long ago the battle of Sakuma village was in its last moments, blood filled the river red, and the manslaughter between Sakuma and Yuko village was terrific. Through all of the bloodshed and terror a young boy named Kenji was just newly born. His mom, Kiri, hid him from the Yuko soldiers but she was killed shortly after. His father General Jiko, known as White Lighting, was the head of Sakuma village, Jiko fought great in battle defeating 100s of soldiers, but his efforts were not enough, and he was captured and brought back to Yuko for his beheading. Not long after almost all of Sakuma village was gone, luckily an ally soldier found Kenji and brought him into his house.
The soldier's name was Ban and he fought beside Jiko in battle. He did not know it was Jiko's son until he was around 5 and looked just like him. Everday Kenji went on walks by the White Lighting memorial. He didn't know who this "General Jiko" was but he wanted to be just like him. One day he was on a normal walk like usual and he heard someone scream, "Help!" Kenji rushed to the scene three kids were bullying a little girl. Kenji grabbed a rock and chucked it at just the right angle where it hit all three kids in the head.
By the age of 11 Kenji was off to Samurai Academy and excelled in his classes becoming more and more like his father. Soon later the village of Sakuma and Ban found out he had the mark of the demon. This terrified the village and Kenji was banished to the mountains at just the age of 11.
He felt betrayed... He was the prodigy of the village, and they just threw him out like garbage. It was cold but he didn't mind that, he found an old sword and used it to collect wood. Once he had a little hut, it was time to train. Even though conditions where harsh, Kenji was not done yet and needed to achieve his goal of becoming the greatest samurai of all time.
" can't lack on my training, and I need to push myself harder than ever before!" Kenji yells, but he feels the echo of loneliness. He leaves his hut and finds a huge boulder the size of a house, "When I slice that rock, then I will be ready." On the way back from training he sees a paper flying in the wind, he grabs it, and it was a wanted poster.
"Taroi of Black Nights" he reads. "Bounty: 100,000,000 Yen! Wow this guy is so awesome!" As he enters his home, he throws the paper up and launches the sword perfectly at it and the poster hits the wall. "I will be just like The White Lightning and Join the group called The Black nights!" And as he says that he lays down and rest until the next morning.
A couple of weeks have past, and his training was getting harder every day. Food was not a problem since Kenji's abilities could allow him to easily capture wild animals. His demon powers were starting to shine through. Every day he was getting stronger, faster, and smarter. His day consist of sharpening his sword, meditating in the ice lake, practicing on trees, and lifting huge rocks back and forth. All day he would do these tasks and every time he would feel like giving up a deep power inside of him would help him overcome the struggle. He grew fond of this power and started to manipulate it to his benefit. Kenji suspects it to be the mark of the demon but doesn't know since he couldn't finish the academy. Sometimes bandits of all sorts would travel through the mountains he would take them on 1 vs 6 sometimes. He thought of them as small fry but one day he sensed a mysterious power coming from deep in the mountains.
"What is that?" Kenji questions himself. It was the first time he actually felt a presence that was close in power to him. He followed the power and when he encountered the strange person he asked, "Where did you come from old man? I don't see a lot of people like you around here."
"Me? Well, I'm just passing by" The man felt something evil in the boy but didn't want to make any assumptions. "May I ask why such a young kid like you are out here by yourself?"
"I'm not a kid." Kenji says calmly as he appears behind the man in an instant.
"So, you think your fast... kid" The man says this in a way to anger him. Kenji did not like this, so he attacked him like he did with any other bandit. But as he rushed him, the man pulls out a sword with a purple glowing aura. Seeing this Kenji immediately backs off and ask him, "What was that?" but when he looked up the man was gone. He turned to go back to his hut, but as soon as he turned, he was knocked out.
He started to slowly wake up with everything being blurry it was hard to see. He was being carried by the man from
earlier, but instead of walking in the mountains they were walking a path with Sakura trees on the side of it. The man noticed he was awake and threw Kenji to the ground with such force that the path below them shattered. Kenji moaned in pain and the man introduced himself as Taroi. The name sounded familiar to him like he's heard it somewhere. When it clicked, Kenji was frozen with fear, he went to speak but words didn't come out. The wind was knocked out of him, and he began falling unconscious, but he felt the power of the mark raging through his body. He was used to this by now and it felt like he was 10x faster and stronger, he attacked Taroi but he felt that aura again and he passed out.
He woke up in a huge dojo and a tall built man stood above him
"Welcome to The Temple of The Black Soldier!" the man said in a jolly voice. Kenji was beyond confused at this point. He was just slammed into the ground by Taroi and now this random guy is treating him nice? It doesn't make sense and Kenji starts to talk.
"Why am I here? Who are you people? What do you want from me?" The man understood Kenji's confusion and told him everything he needed to know.
"Well, you are here because you will be the next member of our group, we are called The Black Knights and want to train you." When the man said this, it cleared up most of the confusion for him, but Kenji was still suspicious.
"There are 5 Black Knights including: you, Me Yozu, Taroi, Han, and Hana. Are duty is to kill demons like you." When Yozu said this Kenji was not happy to hear it.
"If you want to kill me why train me?!"Kenji asked questionably.
"Your different you learned how to control your power unlike the other unfortunate demons."
"Ok one more question... WHY THE HELL DID TAROI THROW ME INTO THE EARTH!"
"If you can survive that you can survive a punch from a demon, but just because you survived it doesn't mean you are ready to face those beasts."
Years go by of hard work and Kenji is now 16. Taroi is his sensei, and he wakes up at 4:30 and end training at 9:30. The past years where harsh and he has never trained like it before. Kenji is slowly becoming more and more popular among the samurai, and his bounty is now 45,000,000 Yen. He is starting to mature and grow a strong bond with The Black Nights. They are also known as the five elements, Kenji(Lightning), Taroi(Fire), Yozu(Earth), Han(Wind), and Hana(Water). As Kenji is training, he hears many screams in the village. He thinks it's just a regular demon attack and gets ready to prepare, but as he stands, he senses 1000s of demon. He orders everyone to get suited in their gear and meet him at Joki Hill, The hill near his home village. He knows that's where the demons are, and he gets their fast. He hears scream of terror, but he isn't worried his elemental attack will be more than enough to wipe them out. He walks up the hill in all white gear and his team in black. A man shouts, "Were saved! The Ghost Demon is here!
Kenji smiles, and says, "Miss me?"
