I've wanted to go to Japan for a while now for school. Learning a language is what has helped me move on in life. I left the JW community and have no friends. I have my boyfriend and his family which is small. I have no hobbies and all I do is work. We bought a house recently. It was going to be in his name but he couldn't do it by himself so I helped. Now money is tight and it's hard to even see myself leaving to go to school. He told me it's not as important as other things. Japanese music every day.. learning apps,, anime..its a part if my life! But....Should I give up? I have nothing else left to hold on to if no one believes in me. That I can make it..I just want to be done.

Believe in yourself and make it happen.
ReplyI had a similar dream with S Korea. I ended up teaching English there. I was really into kpop culture and I loved the time I spent there but after a while I grew out of that. I still listen to kpop, but I have moved on to other stuff. So I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t let go of your dream, but also don’t make your whole life and future about Japan. It will be a great time when you go but make sure you look at other interests and goals. I kinda got bored there after 2yrs and I missed home. If I were you I would try teaching English online to Japanese students. Or, you can find a Japanese language exchange partner online. There are apps that can help you with this. Maybe you can make a friend that way. Or, if you have an extra room in your house, maybe you can have a Japanese student rent out your room. Maybe you can make a friend and learn more about Japanese culture that way. Then, visit Japan with your bf. Maybe he would like to live there for a year. You could rent out the home you bought for that year. I’m sure Japan is like S Korea and they need a lot of English teachers. But, usually you need a bachelor’s degree to get a teaching job in S Korea, so it’s probably the same in Japan. But, if you have enough teaching experience, maybe a company won’t care about the degree. Good luck and don’t give up.
