I don't want to go to my current counselor anymore, my mom understands and supports my decision, but still feels like it is respectful to let my counselor know I won't be continuing sessions instead of just stop showing up. I agree, but I have no clue how to go about having that conversation. I am nervous and don't know what to say without coming across rude.

Tell the counselor you will be discontinuing the sessions from now on and thank the person for seeing you. If the counselor asks why tell the truth. Maybe write down what to say and send an email.
ReplyI think people have probably told them this before. If thats best for you, then they should understand your desision.
