So for the past 5 ish years now, I've noticed I dissociate quite badly when I come in contact with 50s, 60's, 70s, and 80's stuff. Only that time period though. I was born in the 2000's, so I've never experienced any of those decades, and nothing traumatic has happened to me regarding those decades. Why do I dissociate when I see / hear things from then?
Walking into vintage stores feels like everything is fake and someone's trying to kill me, an extreme feeling of "get out". No other stores feel that way. Same for music from then, it makes me dissociate, like, again, someone's trying to kill me and I need to get out as quick as possible.
One thing to note, the 70's make me dissociate the absolute most.
I've never gotten a single clue as to why this happens to me, and for it to be happening for 5+ years concerns me.

How do you know a traumatic memory didn't block some things out for you? If you've ever had any trauma. That's normally why people dissociate.
ReplyI have had trauma before, however, as far back as I can remember, no trauma I've ever experienced had any ties or mentions of these decades.
All of my trauma is from homelessness, school, and family medical issues.
