I know it seems crazy, but I got married to my boyfriend about 9 months after we met. And it's not what most people think, I'm not pregnant and I didn't marry him to get military benefits. We just loved each other and we knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with each other. It took a while to get everything together, but we had a court marriage, with one of my best friends as a witness, and I still haven't had the chance to tell my parents. It's not that they disapprove of my husband, it's just the fact that they're a little more old fashioned and would freak out over the fact that I got married so soon and so young without saying anything to them. I've been wanting to tell them, and I even wanted to tell them before the day I got married, but the timing just never seemed right. There was always something happening. There was drama in the family, someone is too busy or tired to talk, the atmosphere was too awkward to bring it up. I haven't even gotten the chance to change my last name officially on anything because I know my parents will see it and question it. I know that I have to tell them soon, especially since I'll be moving in with my husband once he gets back from deployment. I just don't know how to do it without upsetting them.

When a person gets married , they don't legally change their last name. They are just "known as" their married name if that's what they choose.
