“It’s A Wonderful Life” is a really good movie. Some of you think that ending your life is the only way out and that nobody will miss you. But more people care about your life than you think. If you feel that way, I recommend you watch this movie. Yes, it’s set at Christmas, but it’s not just some Christmas movie.

It's a Wonderful Life will not suddenly make a suicidal person choose not to end their life.
Speaking for myself, I know I have people who will miss me, I don't want to kill myself because I feel like I don't have people who care, I want to kill myself because ven though I have people who care and will miss me, it is not enough to make my life worth living anymore.
It's a nice thought but I don't really think people with serious mental issues will suddenly feel better because they watched Jimmy Stewart realise he had something to live for and because Clarence got his wings.

It’s a case-by-case basis if you ask me. What one person may find inspirational may not have much of an effect on another. I’m just putting it out there for those who do feel suicidal because of a James Stewart-type situation. The goal isn’t to suddenly make someone not suicidal, it is just to recommend a good (and relatable for some) movie.
ReplyI have to agree here
ReplyI completely agree
may I ask this: In this day and age where wellbeing is subject to our attention, why is it that those who wish to commit themselves are overlooked for their reasons and instead society's attention is averted to their friends, family etc?
We regard those with terminal illnesses with the opportunity to commit in order to conserve their memory, physical status, left feeling themselves in the world before leaving it. But those who are discovered with suicidal thoughts are not granted this same opportunity.
Mental illness is a problem. Society has determined that.
Mental Illness is a terminal illness in some cases. Society has not yet learnt that.
Can you elaborate why an individual’s need to cease is less important and inferior to their loved ones need to have them?
ReplyIt’s a Wonderful Life is a great movie, yes everyone should watch it. Even if life is hopeless there’s no point dwelling in negativity and self pity. There should be more uplifting movies like that.
