Music is a form of theatre. Musicians present poems using sound and unique vocal interpretation. It's amazing.
One of the most vulgar, punk rock sunsabitches I've ever seen on stage is totally different out of the spotlight. I mean, TOTALLY different. He moonlights as a musician but works as a middle school psychology teacher. He's quiet, introverted, and soft spoken. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard him utter a single foul word. I picture him guiding the kids, reminding them not to talk during tests, meeting with parents to discuss areas of academic improvement. He has tattoos covering his body but leaves his neck and forearms bare to maintain collared shirt professionalism. His wife is the head of the mathematics department at our state university. If you ask him about it, he will carry on for hours, speaking softly and humbly about his award winning Master's thesis.
On stage, though, he's a maniac.
This is what I love about theatre. It's so diverse and happens right under our noses. You really can't judge a book by its cover. People are magnificent and diverse.
P.S. Your teachers are waaaay cooler than you think they are. 😎
