New friends and a buffet

He told you we were going to the Chinese buffet that we all laughed about the other day! That was so exciting! Not only that, but he took a snap! I thought it was just going to be the plate but it was of me eating! And it was a cool picture, too. I looked pretty and laid back. Just knowing that he told you, "B. and I are going to the buffet" with proof thrilled me because I've wanted to be a part of your friend circle for so long. We have a memory together and now, a few jokes. For now, I'll tell them to him first, so he doesn't get jealous. I made sure to mention your name casually in conversation but not too much so he didn't think I was focused on you--I'm sure he gets that a lot because you're the star. He mentioned your name several times as well. He even mentioned that he asked you to tag along but it were doing stuff with your wife today. Nevertheless, you are such a cool and intelligent person--and by far the coolest acquaintance I would ever have--and I'm glad we got along the other night. It was a big moment for me to meet you because you're his best friend. I know that I will always be on the outskirts of the friend circle (and it's a huge stretch thus far to say that I'm actually in it). This is a good start, though, and I'll take what I can get. The best part is that I'm a safe friend to good around with. You don't have to maintain an image with me. You can laugh and be silly because I won't go telling all the punks your secrets. I don't tell anybody secrets. I'll keep your character safe, don't worry. I will never unnecessarily pry. I will have intelligent conversations but also stupid goofy ones. In time, you'll see that I'm safe. I very much want to be on your good side. You have a good soul and you're interesting. You are an excellent judge of character so it will take a long time for you to come out of your clam shell but I'm patient and if you decide to stay hidden, that's OK, too! But I do enjoy those glimmers of insight. I do enjoy hearing the softness of your voice and the smile that you've hidden behind your mask. I enough knowing what the inside of your van looks like and that you have comforting, soft hands. I know that very few people get to see your face so it's truly an honor to even get that far. It'll happen in due time. But for now, I'll happily take the Chinese buffet and a snap. Baby steps my dude!
