Let me begin this by saying: I am racist. I don't choose to be, but I am. I think white Americans truly don't understand why the inability to say this out loud is so frustrating. They can't see why the black community is so far behind, why their generational poverty is so hard to pull out of. The big picture, however, shows a story of a white population gaining prestige, both economically and socially, on the backs of free labor. Black slaves MADE this country with free labor. Let me say that again: "free labor." Tell me the last time you worked for free. Now... tell me the last time you worked for free while being calling ignorant or while being whipped or while being extremely shamed.
Yeah, I thought so. You don't even like being written up while you're on the damn clock, do you?
White Americans have forgotten so easily the impact black culture has had on our world. Music, food, work ethic, style, the list goes on and on. And none of that influence arrived in this country by choice. It was quite literally and inhumanely dragged here for our ancestor's selfish bidding. (Same reason we outsource to China for cheap ass product... What? I'm just saying ππ€)
And now in our nice houses with our family privilege (no matter how small), we judge any so-called weakness in the black community we can find. As if we don't have our own set of problems, rather large, might I add. I'm stoned while I write this. My daddy was a stoner too, but a white stoner does not a criminal make. How many black men do you think are in prison for possession of Mary Jane? Im too lazy to research, but my guess is it's more than white men, respectively speaking. How many father's did we take away from their babies simply because they smoked weed?
I have a college education from University, I know how to write an article by the way, but I don't feel that dignifying the need for source-citing and proof is necessary here. That's like a parent making their kid explain why throwing a glass vase at their sister's head is naughty using facts and supportive evidence. The bottom line is we know what happened was wrong. We know it like we know the Holocaust was wrong, or the imprisonment of the Japanese after Pearl Harbor, or, I don't know, the brutal taking of America in the first place. This doesn't need to be some federal fucking case. But it doesn't need to be rioting in the streets and being pissed at eachother either. No one on either side wants either of those things, but We, the white American people have an undeniable history of allowing bad shit to go down.
What side of history do you want to be on this time?
Speak Up when you hear ignorance.
That, you can do!
