i envy those that have found love
the ones who never let go
of each others hands
wrapping their fingers
every so tightly
afraid to let go
i envy the people who admire
others when they are still sleeping
thinking just how lucky they are
to be in their life
mapping every outline of their face
with this love in their eyes
laying on their chest and feeling it go
up then down up then down
a silent noise rocking them to sleep
i envy those that dance in the rain
with not a care in the world
and in that very moment-
they are only thinking of them
as the water drips down their clothes
making it all cold and wet
as puddles start to form beneath them
soaking their shoes
i envy the ones that remember the little things
like their favorite color or favorite type of candy
what the flowers they like the best
or what movie they could watch over and over
without ever getting bored
what their least favorite food is and what pet peeve they have
i envy the ones that hold up their hair when they get sick
being so careful that they don't get any in their hair
the ones that carry them across a muddy field
because they don't want to ruin their new shoes
i envy those who still do surprises
as they cover their eyes and lead them away
to a decorated table with two chairs
and a homemade meal with candles lit
i envy all of these things
in hopes of getting them
but i guess i will have to wait

Thanks for sharing; this reminds us that romantic love tends to be highly conditional, but there is certainly hope that romantic love in unconditional form does exist.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
ReplyThis is a beautiful illustration of love: the peace in standing in the rain, the tender love in a homemade surprise, the strongest simplicity in holding hands. And this beautiful description can be observed and desired from a distance.
I don't want to crush your dream of finding a true love in this way, but I want to remind you that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side, and there are hardships, the necessity of commitment, and more simply, time that comes with true love. True love may not be easy to find and stick to, but it's worth it when you do find it, which you tell beautifully here.
Still, don't miss out because of envy - if it's in your heart, pursue it. Have you had any love pursuits in the past? If you did, how did you feel about them?
ReplyI had that once.
it worst dealing with losing them. Yes, I still envy having those moments.
