I have a friend who I find difficult. She gets into deep conversations with me via voice note and then cuts them short as if I was the one who wanted to talk. She is always busy and can’t make time to spend quality time with me, instead sends me a string of voice notes with a running narrative of her day, pesters me for attention when I’ve told her I will be busy. She offers opinions on how she views my life and situation and tries to offer advice. I am an introvert and I find her attitude intrusive and inconsiderate. I am happy to listen to her but I don’t need advice, I’m just fine, I would rather just hang out occasionally and be able to support each other that way. I don’t need a running narrative of her day and I don’t need her opinion on my life. It seems as if she wants the things that she has for my life but I’m not interested. I will never be a party animal. I will never prioritise popularity and wealth. Are we just too different to be friends? I admit I find her attitude a bit self absorbed and insensitive.
