Hello everyone. I want to get strong, especially my arms and chest. To accomplish this by doing bicep curls and bench presses. I've been going to the week for maybe around 2 months? Generally, I start with the bench press, complete 3 to even up to 7 reps of 175 lbs. When I first started going to the gym, my 1 rep max at the chest press was like 160 and I was barely able to lift it. After that, I do 4 sets of 12 reps at 85 lbs at the bench press. After that, I move on to the embarrassing part, the standard and reverse bicep curls. I try doing 12 reps at 25 lbs for each exercise, but I really struggle. Now this is where the embarrassment comes in. After attempting a second time, I can barely get passed 6 reps. So, I can't seem to get pass 20 lbs. How can I get past this? Is there a dietary change I could make (I most eat pastas, apples, and cold meat sandwiches) .With people around me, it's extremely humiliating and I can't help but think that they believe me to be some kind of chump or are even secretly recording me (though this is most unlikely). Any advice on how to improve my zero self-esteem.

For your zero self esteem look in a mirror every day and tell yourself that you are as good as everyone else and better than some over and over. Do this every day until you believe it.
ReplyYou're not a chump. You show up. You try. That's more than some people do. Keep pushing forward. You're there for you not them. Everybody has a beginning. Be gentle with yourself. Do your best and at the end of the day you can say I did my best and let it go. Try to keep doing better each day.
