My friends borrowed my phone to "text a friend". 2 hours later, I found myself at the police station being interrogated by the senior most police, with my name and picture released to the principal and vice principal and me being accused of cybercrime + theft of car keys, phone, money, bag as well as threats.
It only took 3 additional hours of investigation when I wrote a statement saying that I let my friends borrow my phone but I had no idea they were about to send the message "If your bag is dear to you, then place $2k in the same place you put your bag, and we'll return it to you" from my phone to some other girl until later on. Apparently my friends were pranking their friend and stole her bag from a public library.
The police case is now closed as they determined that I'm innocent (My friends confessed about everything and they also told everyone that I wasn't involved in this and it was them who were) and the girl forgived my friends.
1 day later and now the principal is deciding what punishment to give those friends of mine. Those friends of mine are already repeaters and failed exams so our principal has pre-existing grudges against them.
My parents still do not have any idea about what happened but I'm very glad that my friends didn't pretend like I'm involved in this case too. I'm glad they defended me.
Our classmates/teachers don't know about this too. It's a secret between us all.
This all happened yesterday but I still feel very nervous for my friends. I got in trouble with the police many times before but they were only for minor things like breaking curfew.
Then the next day (aka today) I was leaving home in the morning, and my 15 y/o sister wasn't brushing her teeth and her breath stinked. So my mom kept telling her to brush her teeth but she said no. She's always on her iPad even when it's 3am.
So I hid her iPad and told my mom that I won't give it to her until she brushes her teeth. Then my sister came from school before me and an hour later when I came home, the closets were emptied and clothes on the floor, the blankets on the floor, my sketchbook and textbooks torn, and my little brother said my sister did this.
My mom got angry at me and she was scolding me that it's all my fault she did this because I shouldn't have hid her iPad.
I gave my sister a toothbrush with toothpaste but she threw it to the floor and was screaming.
My mom scolded me a lot and said I should be ashamed of myself and that I'm a punishment on her.
I was just trying to get her to brush her teeth.
After what happened yesterday and today, I still didn't shed a single tear. Now I feel numb. 😒 My mom doesn't know about what happened with me yesterday either and neither does my dad (because he lives in a different country).
Ugh.
And now I'm feeling guilty for telling the police that I didn't send it... But at the same time when I found out about the message before the police did, I told my friends "If anything happens, it's all your fault. The blame is on you because I didn't know you're sending this message" They were laughing at me and said nothing is gonna happen... So yeah I shouldn't feel guilty.
Also I'm from an Asian country so maybe the system sounds a bit different here. Sorry if this sounds confusing.
Idk what to do right now. My friend didn't even tell her dad that she repeated the year and also, the police somehow knows her uncle and said he's gonna file a new case on something related to illegal phone use.... So I'm even more worried for her. 😐

I know I'm being petty. My friend always gets like this when she starts talking to a boy. She'll start talking to us less and she'll stop hanging out with us. T...
Don't be worried for your friend, let her look out for herself and you behave and don't loan your phone to anyone again. If they don't have a phone tell them to get one like you did.
