I recently started eating less because I don’t like how my body is currently. And it’s been fine so far. I mean, I don’t skip meals or anything. I eat when I’m hungry. I just have smaller portions and rarely go for seconds. And not eat anything too sweet.
But I don’t know if I should be doing this. I mean, I’m 14. I should eat. But I’m eating enough, right? I’m not starving myself. I’m just…eliminating any excess.
I ate breakfast—one glazed croissant-donut. That’s it. Then I walked for a bit (shopping at a mall), and ate lunch 5 hours later. But I feel like I barely ate. I didn’t even eat half of the bowl. And the bowl didn’t even have that much in it. Before, I could finish most of it before being full. But I just…couldn’t. The thing is, it’s not because I was limiting myself. It was because I genuinely got full. Why did I get full? It was just some rice, some steak, and some vegetables. I barely even drank water. Why am I full after not eating a lot? Was it a mistake to train my body this way?
Should I be doing this? I think I’m happy. I’m fine with the way I eat. Was starting to eat less a mistake?

oh honey you are only 14 , dont do this to your body , at this age your body needs enough food , eat healthy alot drink alot , dont starv yourself
ReplyI think you should talk to your parents about this. People have different appetites, and your appetite also varies with the size and distention of your stomach, which can change over a lifetime. If you're not feeling hungry, if you don't feel less energetic, if you are able to carry out your daily life activities the same as before, I don't think it's a problem. But still, talk to someone who knows you and your eating habits personally.
And don't worry about your body! It's not just feel-good hokey-pokey, someone somewhere really does find you very beautiful the way you are.
ReplyI think you started out right but somewhere along the way you messed up your body's eating patterns. The key is moderation in everything. Not everyone is the same or loses weight the same way. If its affecting you as you say maybe itd help to eat a little more if you can hold it just don't over eat. You can retrain your eating patterns. I had an eating disorder for a bit I eventually got back to eating normally. Plus if youre only 14 well you need to take extra care of yourself so you don't do long-term damage. I know it may be hard to do but you might need to open up to your parents about it. They may be able to steer you in the right direction. Im no dietician or dr so I can't really advise you too much beyond do everything moderately. You're not starving but perhaps eating a little more gradually day by day may get your appetite back.
Replyi’ve been doing this too recently, it’s not good though. your body has now gotten used to eating smaller portions but this will not provide you with the nutrients you need to be strong and healthy. take it step by step, eat foods you enjoy and eat with others because it helps. don’t force yourself to eat but remind yourself you need to be nourished. i hope you are alright and ask for help from adults in your life if you are concerned for your health and habits. <3
ReplyYou're fine. If nothing is happening to your health then you're fine. Go get checkups regularly but if your doctor is telling you that you're fine, and your body is literally telling you that you're fine, then you're fine. Because in a couple of years your diet may change again or you may start wanting to eat more than usual. It's all part of growing up. Don't feel scared, I was the same way. You're only 14, don't force yourself to eat more than what your body can take. If you feel like you're not getting enough vitamins and nutrients, ask your doctor about prescribing vitamins.
