I used to volunteer as an assistant zookeeper in the Africa section. Our zoo was AZA accredited, which means that they have a conservation plan that includes genetic management. Part of the genetic management plan is making sure the animals could produce healthy offspring. Zoologists carefully monitored reproductive hormone levels in our captive animals. They noticed that the hormones in our two female elephants were starting to decline because the girls hadn't been around male elephants in a long time. Basically, the elephants were starting to lose their sex drives and were turning into old spinsters. To boost their health, the zoologists arranged for a male elephant to join our zoo to put a little pep in their step.
I'm beginning to feel like a spinster elephant. I haven't been around a man in a long time. The weekend is approaching. I think I might go out and put a little pep in my step. Time to get back in the game, y'all. ππ ππ πΆ
