The trek across these large mountains is not an easy one. I have come through time and time again. This journey is not for myself however, my town needs - no, my town wants the valuables from the mountain.
This time I noticed a lack of materials. The frequency of my trips is at an all time high, I still try to bring back as much as I can for them. If I come back empty handed, I might as well not come back at all.
I began on my way back with as much as I could find. This time they’re bound to be impressed at how much I found for them. Finally, I see the gates of my town.
Excitedly, I greet the townspeople. My body is battered and bruised from my endless journeys, but that’s proof of my hard work.
They don’t seem to notice, which is alright. I don’t need help with something as trivial as this. I show them the contents of my bag; They all take it without a word.
The next day they came to speak to me. My body hurts, I don’t feel like I can explore today.
“Would it be okay if I took a day off?” I ask. A deep sigh follows.
“Do whatever you want, it’s what you’ll do anyways.”
This response frustrates me. They’ve told me I’m strong, I’m capable of working hard; so I’ll work harder.
Back to the mountains again. My bag slowly gets heavier and heavier from all the things I collect. The cold breeze eats at my energy as I start to shiver. My purple hands cannot pick anything up anymore, and I can’t even move them.
I finally stop shaking from the coldness, I’ve come out the other end like I always do. My next step gives out on me and I collapse to the ground. The snow is cold, but my body doesn’t feel it right now. Without a thought, a memory, a scream, or cry, I wane. An untimely abrupt ending; an ending fit for me.
