Is it worth staying here?
Watching more pieces of your life break away.
Just when you think it’s over, it somehow gets worse.
You bend the rules to make things better,
But then you see why the rules were there in the first place.
Piece by piece.
The first one is a stab straight to the stomach.
Unexpected. Unbearable. But tolerated.
The next one to the back.
The betrayal of your own life turning on you.
Once again.
The third one is a stab to the heart.
Deep in. Seeping blood.
This one is the worst by far.
You realize that after three pieces fall you don’t have many left to hold you together.
But that fourth piece…
That fourth piece feels like a paper cut.
Barely scratching the surface.
Barely noticeable.
You gotten through stab wounds, so any pain after that isn’t so bad.
Spoil alert: feeling the pain was better than being used to it.

I can’t ever have you
I’ve been pushing you away, because it’s easier to hate you from a distance than to love you from up close....

Thanks for sharing. Boundaries are in place for a reason; once boundaries are violated then things will be broken for some time, and might never return to a place of trust and respect. There is always some hope things will return to how they were before the betrayal, but no guarantee. I suppose it all depends on the individual, whether or not to continue to endure the pain, or cut and run before it keeps happening. Best of luck.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
Love...that powerful, invisible, intangilbe force that cannot be denied; even atheists live and die by it.
