So many times, people will look at those struggling with mental health and tell them that it is all fake and they are just desperate for attention. While I can say it is kind of true, it is actually also very false.
Mental health is real, and it is serious. There is scientific fact that the brain has irregularities tied to mental illness. Genes can have an effect on the possibility of developing the illness. There are also many different illnesses on the spectrum, ranging from minimal to very severe.
The part that I can agree on is while suffering with mental illness, there is hope of attention, but it is never to the extent that society believes. You never realize it, but there is always hope of finally feeling like someone can love and care about you. There is always hope that someone can help that drive to get out of that rock bottom in your head. Whether it is just a very close friend, a family member, or a lover, there is always some kind of attention that can drive the feeling of meaningfulness. There are even times when someone like a school teacher/professor can bring out that good feeling because you can finally feel like you are achieving all the goals you set for yourself even though you knew you were breaking inside.
Everyone needs the knowledge of all the struggles that anyone can go through. Many times, illnesses can be completely invisible, but they are real, and they are strong. With more acknowledgement and support, we can all fight these terrible demons, and we can all live a happy and meaningful life.

Often parents think that their child is being dramatic or attention getting when they say they have something mentally wrong because adults think that children can't have a mental illness or be depressed.
