Hi guys, I’m currently a senior in hs, today was my second week of school. Currently I’m feeling very overwhelmed. My school is not a regular school, it’s an early college one, meaning that you enroll at the local university that’s a 5 minute walk away from our building. By your junior and senior year you take from 12-15 credit hours and have the opportunity to graduate with a free associates degree given you so the required courses. This semester I’m doing 17 credit hours with a lot of stem classes (gen chem, calc 1, macro economics) as well with 2 electives (foreign language and film) all college leveled. So far I’m scared for this semester because it’ll be a lot of hw. If it were just school I’d be fine but I have a lot of other stuff to manage. I’m president of some clubs at school (I’m total im in 4 school clubs that meet weekly), and community clubs (1 that meets bi-weekly). On top of that I have a contract at a local hospital that I can’t leave until I finish my hours. I also have to work 3x a weeks on shifts that last 5-8 hours in order to pay for gas money and food. I can’t stop working because my family financially needs support. I can’t drop any classes because I need them all to graduate hs. I can’t stop volunteering or being a part of the clubs because they’re required by school and they also look good for college applications. I am very scared for this semester. I’m naturally decent at math and science but for some reason I am worrying. Idk if I will be able to handle it all. My school day began at 9am today, I got home at 5pm and since then ive been doing hw (it’s 11pm rn and I just finished). Please give me some advice or encouragement, I feel very alone rn.

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I remember feeling that way when I was your age and I didn't do even half the things you are right now. I'd recommend stepping down from one of your president roles in one or more of your clubs. It's not necessary to be president of all of them for your college application. You CAN say no to volunteering sometimes. You have a full course load, a job, and extra curriculars. Please trust me in knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It seems as though you're putting this extra pressure on yourself to do as much as possible. And let me tell you, it doesn't get any better as you get older. These are the easy years as far as I'm concerned. ENJOY your senior year!!! Its truly your last year of freedom in a sense. Being an adult is so shitty. Then throw children into the mix and DAMN. I could keep going. But seriously. Deep breaths. You got this.
