I don’t know why I always try so hard to copy people I don’t even know just to impress them and show everyone I’m just the same as them. well maybe it’s because I’ve always been insecure since I was a kid...idk idk

Journal entry 13/08/23: Greasy hair problems
Day 6 of vowing to write every day. Today my hair was greasy. Greasy like an oil rig. I also noticed it's thinning. I think it's the climate. Anyways, this mad...
You are beautiful on your own way. Do not copy anyone because they are not worth it. Try to find real friends who like you just the way you are. good luck!
ReplyIt might be the connection you're trying to establish with someone when you copy them, or it may be that you are trying to define yourself. I did that last one when I was a teenager.
I couldn't find a personality for myself. I was too quiet, too strong willed and liked being alone too much, so I copied someone else's personality to fit in a little. (A family member of mine suggested I copy what other people do. It was solid advice.)
As time progressed, I got more comfy with it and adjusted the personality more to me and my style. People see through it after awhile though. I get tired of being that person. I revert back to the old me, the 'get to the point and quit fucking around' me, when I'm tired and needing a break from the show.
Some things that surprise me out of copying others is that I now prefer less depth to a relationship with someone. I used to need to know someone well to enjoy their company. Now, I'd rather just talk about the weather, enjoy the moment and move on.
Maybe I was seeking both of those things? But time has proven that the connection with people isn't worth it. People are awful inside. They're too scared of everything, and they wind up infecting themselves and everything else they come near.
Scared people are dangerous people. The world has A LOT of scared people.
Idk if that answered your question.
ReplyHey, dude.
Before you start hating on yourself, try to show yourself some compassion. Something you need to know is you can allow everyone in the room to talk trash about you and underestimate you, but NEVER YOURSELF. Remember my words, you are your own best friend. Best friends don’t talk down on themselves. Treat yourself how you would treat a good friend.
When you feel negative, start asking yourself why. Chances are, understanding your situation will help you greatly in feeling better. Why do you feel the need to prove yourself? Why do you want to imitate people? Did those people you imitate have traits that you personally liked? Or did you copy them because you knew you would get attention by doing what they did?
You’re right, and you know yourself best. Don’t be afraid to take this negative situation and turn it around into an opportunity for self discovery. This is called intelligence. What you’re going through is most likely low self confidence, and this probably stemmed from your childhood. Find out what was missing from your family because they play a huge part in your mental health. The sooner, the better.
If you really want to improve, BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF. First, don’t talk shit about yourself. Second, be curious and DO NOT GIVE UP, find out and understand WHY you feel that way. Third, form a healthy solution.
I hope this message helped. You definitely should know you’re not as bad as you say you are. In fact, this struggle you’re going through right now is going to be something you’re thankful for in the future. If there’s one thing I learned in life, it’s that the bigger your struggle is, the better you’re going to be at it once you overcome it. You can be afraid and still overcome your challenges. That’s real bravery.
If there’s anything you need, I’d be happy to help! Wishing you the best of hard work.
