I'm turning 14 soon, but I'm seriously dreading it, last year a few days before my birthday my uncle killed himself, I know people will be sad for my birthday, is it wrong to just not plan anything at all, because I know it ruined the memory of my birthday?

Same happened with my cousin as you.
ReplyIt sucks, because like people are saying how much they hate this time of year, but it used to be special yk?
ReplyCelebrate your birthday as usual which is what your uncle would want.
ReplyI'm so sorry that happened to you. I feel horrible. Maybe just talk to your parents about it and maybe they can figure something out, to help you.
ReplyHonestly the same thing happened to me and now every year I just have mixed emotions about my birthday because I also remember it as the death anniversary of my Uncle. If you yourself are not feeling up to/want to plan anything, then that's fine but I don't think you should be afraid of planning something just because you think your birthday is ruined for everyone. For the record, it may feel like your birthday is ruined but it's not, it get easier or more comfortable over time. You learn to acknowledge and process and accept what happened but it shouldn't stop you from celebrating or enjoying your birthday.
