The awful feelings before it hit started last Friday. I was slowly winding into destruction then. Yeah, it's just another month, but some months are just worse, and I underestimate how much my period upturns life for me sometimes. I felt sick to my stomach, worse than usual for the entire weekend before finally feeling somewhat better when it came on Monday. But, what's really been bad this month is the extreme lack of motivation that hit right when my period came. I just want to lay in bed and sleep, but I don't let myself of course. I drag myself to classes, get all my assignments done, but it takes forever with my mind just wanting to go into power saving mode. Even today, I am trying to work on something, but my mind is just blanking. Getting myself to study this week has been unusually hard. I also woke up this morning feeling like my entire life is just wrong. Like everything I'm working towards is just wrong. I know this is untrue, it's just cloudy judgement, and it's going to pass. It's still an annoying feeling to deal with. It just sucks because I feel like my period can nuke an entire week or more out of my life, and I just have to scramble to either take precautions to minimize the damage, or find a way to clean up the damage it probably will cause.... Add being unreasonably exhausted on top of that no matter how much sleep I get....it's a mess. Another crazy thing is how my body and mental state will go back to acting completely normal in a few days as if nothing ever happened.

When you want to stay in bed and sleep you should especially as you aren't feeling well when you get your period.
ReplyI get it. And it does take a chunk of your time. I used to be on the pill or mini pill for years and it controlled and minimised my period. I'm off it now for health reasons and my period is much worse, the leadup to it and my actual period and soooo much longer. Considering going back on the minipill to better cope with it. Shorter, less bleeding, seemingly less emotional impact and less pain. Speak to your doctor if you think it might help.
