I thank You for the day I have been blessed with.
I know I shouldn’t question You but, are You sure I’m made in Your image?
You—the steady and solid rock—made
Me—soft in body, heart, and soul.
Are You sure?
Please please don’t be upset with me.
I cherish the fact that I can bring comfort to others, soothe their fears, but
The seed of Adam is greedy, Lord, they grab
And pull and scratch at Your vulnerable
Child, Lord
Deep plum pools of pain sprout at the roots
Of their grasp
It hurts.
My heavenly Father, are You sure?
I fear to have my skin be thick and rough,
Segregating me from the warmth of others
Or
My heart harden and my soul grow heavy,
Weighing and dragging me down until it
Settles into the bubbling Lake Phlegethon.
Oh Lord. If I have to bear these wounds I will but,
Are You sure?
Amen.
