I hate that the big video sharing site removed my comment on a video because I spoke of the elective forever sleep. It's messed up that real feelings about the grief of life is being censored...
I'm 38 and I have no children and no lovers (note: I don't think they should have to either). I will not be able to take care of myself when I get old nor will I ever be rich enough to have someone or a robot take care of me. I don't want to be a burden and drain on society so ... elective shut down is my own option to spare myself the degradation and humiliation of being a worthless throwaway old woman.
Why should the world be protected from the idea that elderly people deserve to forever sleep in dignity?
It's no secret that we don't respect or care for our elders -- related or not -- are we as Americans just too ashamed to admit this and take steps towards fixing it?
Maybe I should go to Canada... I heard they have no problem getting rid of the elderly and disabled...
And my older sister, why should I remain year after year, unhappy and withering away so she can pat herself on the back?
Ugh. I'm sick of this world and it's cowardice... I'm sick of the hypocrisy.

Here in Australia the elderly are looked after by domestic aids and personal carers who look after them by coming to their homes and doing the housework and helping them with showering and all sorts of personal things. These places also employ people to cut their grass and have volunteer drivers to take them to medical appointments. None of these things are free but are quite affordable and keep the elderly out of nursing homes and in their own homes for as long as possible. I don't know why you are going on about these things at the age of 38. You are still very young.
ReplyI have been a care giver for so many year’s. I know it cost to be taken care of don’t get me wrong. Not sure what age you are to start setting yourself up but there is help out there. A truly you can get a great caregiver that will care for you and help you. It might take some time to find the right one but we do exist. I haven’t took care of my last client in two years but I still talk to her and her son. Which just after Christmas Iam going to go visit them. I love them and miss them. Don’t give up. You are worth everything you have meaning in this life so grab ahold of it and live! Not for anyone else but for yourself! No matter what you are amazing
