Dear Life

Life.

Life, life, life...life.

It is hard, you know? Living in the world of today…..in the world of greed, scars and gruesome wars.

In the world—

where trees gasp for a few fresh breaths...

where eyes still water in absence of rain...

where hearts sink as our backs start aching...

where money buys people and not the other way around.

This world exists...and it is terrifying.

And…..when I was a child, I saw this same world in much different colours, in different sounds and smells. Mornings used to smell of boiling coffee pots and pancake solutions. The birds used to chirp louder, with more tune in their melody. And nature was crafted like an old relic, a renaissance painting.

Everything was...

so.much.different.

Now I'm here. After 19 years of living in the same world, and I can't tell if the world changed me or with me.

And I know many would tell me "You are only 19. What do YOU know about life?" and that is perhaps what scares me the most. If I have changed…..if LIFE has changed so much in these 19 years, what else is waiting for me in the future? Do l even have one? For all I know, I may be gone before even being able to submit this letter. Because that is life. Unpredictable.

That is why we have to live it to the fullest.

I am not proud of myself for living behind the shadow of my own for the last two decades. I have been kind of person that was scared to take risks, to say yes to crazy ideas, to go on adventures and pursue things that may change the course of my life forever.

And what I learned from that is that that's NOT living. That's surviving.

Living without passion is surviving. Don’t ever let yourself go down that lane because then, you will need hell of a lot of time to be pulled out. It feels like falling on the worn off side of the pillow, but being too tired to change the sheets because the lights are already turned off and all you can see is the darkness before you. It feels like an almost.

You can almost do it but you won’t.

Don’t let your life be an almost.

Just say yes to that crazy job offer you got in a different state, or that guy that just proposed to you. Say yes to the late night walks on the beach and early morning talks with sunrise. Do not feel forced to love what you do, and start doing what you love. Because remember, age wrinkles your body, but giving up the things you love wrinkles your soul.

Look at life as a gift from God to you. Or if you are a non-believer, look at it as a gift from your parents to you. Do not let it slip through your fingers and...

Do not be scared to live just because you're afraid of dying.

So once again...say it with me...

Dear life,

experiencing you is the most painful but beautiful thing ever.
