Well, not a complete holocaust denier, hes convinced that the numbers are falsified, and that a couple thousand people died at most. He thinks the numbers are so staggeringly high so that he should be made to feel bad, and its a cash grab by eastern Europeans and Jewish people. He also doesnt believe in vaccines or the moon landing. conversations with him are painful to say the least.
- his daughter who has a degree in history.

Time to take him on a trip to Europe so he can see things for himself. I'm not sure he realizes how many concentration camps there truly were (the larger ones are usually the most talked about). It was a horrible time for humanity. My heart breaks for the generations who are invalidated by people like your father. He's not a bad guy. He's just so far removed from history. It might not be a bad idea to work on taking a trip if he's interested in it. He probably won't be (most people who talk like that aren't interested in education--they like bogus conspiracy theories more, unfortunately).
Replythe sad part, we are european. he thinks its all a lie regardless, despite the holocaust being a big part of our education in my country
ReplyAlso, he really would not go, because he would hate to be proven wrong, especially by his own daughter. We have memorials and war museums in my country and he thinks that they are a load of crock. Saying that, he will defend ww2 vets and argue immigration is ruining our country. He generally is not a nice person, i dont know how my mum stayed with him for so long lol
ReplyThere are people like this. I certainly don't believe that men have ever walked on the moon because before USA said that happened Russia and USA were having a space race meaning both countries were trying to send men to space in a rocket and Russia was winning! Next thing USA said men walked on the moon. Recently USA sent a rocket to the moon and said they can't send men because the part of the rocket that returns to earth that would have the men in it is half as hot as the sun and no one would survive in it. So, isn't that amazing that they could do that in 1969 but there is no way that they can do it now!!! Tell your dad that I fully agree with him about the bs moon landing.
ReplyContinued: also sending men into space is sexist. Why can't women go into space?
Replywomen have been to space. Whether we agree with the moon landing thing or not, i dont really give it much thought. If weve been to the moon, cool. If we havent, no big deal. I do think there were more pressing matters of the cold war, but i will never forgive russia for Laika the dog.
