I think people are complex individuals, but let's be honest, a lot of fellow African Americans are cringe! I want better for everyone, but some traits I grew up around, seen on tv/internet, and just praised in general is kind of sad;
》Being casually racist, I can't tell you how much I heard people randomly bring up race, saying slurs, and assuming things base off people's race! EVEN MOVIES do this! Like even Disney's soul had this! With the comment about unborn soul's voice.
Worst of all? If you don't act a this way, you get made fun if/bully for it! Who cares about skin tone?!
》Idolizing gangster culture & bad parenting! Can we please get more African American casted movies that is just people living normal lives with BOTH parents being living and supportive to their impressionable kids, and their parnters.
I hope I'm not judging, but it's sad if that's relatable to your life, the gangster or drug/crimal family life. I am sorry for anyone who had to gi through that, and I hope your safe now and a much better place.
》Gatekeeping. Remember Black panther? Really smart move keeping the movie from doing well, by trying to stop a larger audience from seeing it. (Scarcasim) But, that's just one popular example! The Animal Crossing "space bun" is another example. People can't enjoy a hair style? Who does it hurt? It has no religious or another thing. It's just a easy to do hair style, that some people like the anesthetic of.
There's way to much anger keeping people from enjoying things, and normally it for stupid reasons!
》Lack of respect, older folks might, especially the religious kind, but sadly a lot of African Americans who makes being angry their personality. I have a bed temper, but the deference is, I don't wanna be mad. I and, it doesn't normally help. So over growing up i controled it, and it's technically there, but no one can tell. But, everyone proudly boast their attitude and 1st to get in someone's face, or escalate a situation.
Sometimes a minor one at that! And, ALWAYS, saying things so over the top and rude!
Also, the speaking your mind, especially about sexual stuff/people body is another trait i notice. And, YES. It is disrespectful. Afterall, you never know what some person's past or situation is. Just repect others body verbally and physically.
...
So there. Any other honest people of the African American race feel this way? And, admit to also being ashamed or frustrated with it?

I am the passenger of my ship

And when you are not in bed, you have no temper?
ReplySometimes the best we can do is try to be the example we want others to follow. Other times we can use our platform to inspire people to be better, for example a singer or movie producer. And still other times, we can build a small organization whose mission it is to create positive change. Best of luck.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
Love...that powerful, invisible, intangible force that cannot be denied; even atheists live and die by it.
Mary, Mother of Christ, intercede for us with your prayers, now, and always.
And after our worst deeds - never forget God forgives us when we repent through Christ Jesus.
