So, lately I have been confused. I am female and have had a crush on this boy for about a month now. He is nice, and whenever we talk I always get those familiar butterflies that you get around someone you like.
A couple of weeks ago some of my friends (Jacob, Addi, Tristan, and Liz) introduced me to this girl named Audrey and we clicked (as friends), immediately. At first what I thought about her was, "She's kind of pretty and makes me laugh a lot." She has my humor, and over about a week she started sitting with us at our school lunch table. She sits next to me every day at lunch because the only seat is close to me.
Then, we got to be the kind of friends that hugs each other in the hallways and says hi whenever we see each other. Lately I have been noticing how I get butterflies whenever we hug or say hi like I do with my guy crush.
I have two bi friends, (Addi and Juliana) one gay friend, (Gerald) and a lesbian friend (Zoe). I've always thought of myself as straight and have wanted to stick to that label, but I can't get the thought of her off my mind.
People always assume I'm part of the LGBTQ community for some reason, which only makes me believe this is a true crush more.
I'm not sure if I'm lesbian, bi, straight, whatever, so I'm turning to the comments to help. I'm pretty sure half of my family is homophobic, so I'm scared of coming out to them if I am bi. I might just come out to my friends.
But anyway, I don't know, so if anyone would like to help that would be great.

before I knew I was queer I had queer friends and as a neurodivergent person I have lots of neurodivergent friends. people are often drawn to people like them, even if it's subconscious. that combined with the fact that you might be crushing on a girl... sounds pretty bi to me bestie :) also it's totally cool to just come out to your friends, and even then, only do that when/if you're ready. the most important thing about a good coming out experience is that it's on your own terms, including not just because you feel like you have to or that you owe it to anyone. welcome to the queer club, as part of your bi starter pack we have Korra and Asami from Legend of Korra, finger guns, peace signs, awkward thumbs ups, and iced coffee, and arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing flags. oh and also girls. enjoy :))

ReplyI have a girlfriend now. You know how I said that I have that lesbian friend whose name was Zoe? I started to like her, and then she asked me out and we went on a date to the pool and now we're officially dating. But it isn't going very well because almost all of the popular kids are homophobic, so (despite never being hated) I'm getting bullied. Happy pride month!
