It's crazy to me that people say this. "Why is there no straight month?"
As most of us know, June (this month) is pride month, or the actual definition: A month ( typically June) that is dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ+ culture, LGBTQ+ rights, and the uplifting of queer voices around the world.
The month in America was originally dedicated to the Stonewall Riots. In June of 1969 police raided and persecuted sexual minorities at the Stonewall Inn. This lead to violent demonstrations that marked the start of the Gay Rights Movement.
Gay marriage was only legalized in the US on June 27, 2015.
And in 64 countries, being homosexual is punishable by law, jail time, or even death.
And people still say, "Why is there no straight month?"
Maybe, Karen, it's because you didn't have to fight to be straight. Personally, before I was out of the closet I saw little homophobia towards other people. Now that I am bisexual and have a girlfriend, I get homophobic comments and slurs thrown my way almost daily, and I also notice it happening to my gay friends.
The person who gets the most hate out of my queer friends is my gay friend, Matthew.
He's been called many homophobic slurs and gets bullied at his high school daily, too.
Asking why there's no straight month is like asking in February why there's no white history month. Because there's no real reason. I know that straight, white, men don't always have it all, but they come across little discrimination. I'm not saying that no one can be straightphobic, or racist to white people, or that men don't have struggles.
I'm saying that their social group didn't have to fight as much. They don't have to lose their lives or get put in jail for just existing.
Another point that commonly comes up during pride month is: "Why does everybody celebrate pride month, but no one celebrates Men's Mental Health month?"
So, there are many groups that celebrate this month as mens mental health month, too.
Mens mental health month was established in 1994 and many are making the argument that more people should be aware of it.
I wholeheartedly agree. Men's mental health is a serious issue today around the world. But just because it happens to land on the same month as pride month, doesn't mean that they cannot be celebrated in harmony.
Both are issues to be aware of and to appreciate. But honey, the gays aren't stopping you from celebrating.
YOU can help raise awareness, it isn't the people who celebrate pride month that are stopping you from it.
And that was facts and opinions on Pride Month by me. HAPPY PRIDE! π³οΈβππ³οΈβππ³οΈβπ
P.S. God loves everyone, not just straight people.

Prideful
Just because you got a ton of college degrees doesnβt mean you gotta tear people down to make yourself feel good...
Ah it's another one of those kind of posts. Well go be a furry for all I care. I don't agree with the lifestyle but I won't hate you for it either.
ReplyThe only reason you don't agree with gay people is because you're not gay. If you were you would want it to be your lifestyle.
ReplyFirst of all, why did you have to say anything? If you don't agree, don't comment. Second, thanks for not hating! Third, when tf did I say anything about being a furry? πππ I mean, as long as you don't hate on anyone irl, good for you!
ReplyYou're the reason why most people are homophobic. Take your drama hate shit somewhere else.
ReplyOkay, buddy, I saw what you posted. "Why do they need a whole month to celebrate putting a dick in another mans ass?" It isn't just that. Sex is a factor in queer relationships just as much as much as it is in straight relationships. During pride month we are celebrating people who love one another romantically. Gay people go on dates, we kiss each other, we hold hands, we write love letters to each other, we tell each other good morning and good night, we cuddle, we hug. WE LOVE. Why we need a month and a flag is because some people did not like that we happened to be the same gender. We fought to be able to love each other, proudly. Also, being LGBTQ+ isn't only loving the same gender. It can be loving no gender, having no gender, loving multiple genders, being multiple genders and a lot of different things. You see, an analogy by a YouTuber named Noah Fince, was "You see, if there are two kids on a playground, and they are getting bullied by the same kid, they are going to be friends."
This represents the LGBTQ+ community. All we want is to be free, so we stick together and go against the group who is bullying us into secrecy. This group is people like you who make us scared to love who we want. Now there's your "Mic Drop."
Also, who flags all the comments in the comment section just because they don't like them? Dude, really?
ReplyWell the point got across. So. Maybe learn some respect and humility and others might treat you the same. Respect is earned. Not given.
ReplyLed not lead.
ReplyLol, thanks. My autocorrect wasn't working. π
ReplyThere is nothing stopping you from making a straight month, except that hardly anyone is really, all that straight.
