I'm coming to terms with the fact that i need to end my life, but death as a concept is still very scary for me, i heard that it's impossible to overcome it since it's kinda like a primal instinct programed into us so you just have to ignore and push through it wich i guess i could do, but i was wandering if maybe someone has any tips on how to be less afraid, that would be very helpful. For context i don't believe in anything superstitious or religious, so i really don't know what's going to happen when i bite the dust and that's scary as shit. I just don't want my last moment to be scary.

Feeling Conflicted with myself and the world
Am I hungry? Unsettled? I don't know. Should I text or not? I don't know. Do I even have friends? I don't think so. I feel like I'm a person of convenience, onl...
Fear of death isn’t about fear of what happens next, it’s about fear of what you’ll leave behind. If you’re still afraid of death, subconsciously, there’s something in this world you need that you haven’t gotten yet. I would suggest that you shouldn’t try to suppress that fear, because if you do, whatever that thing is you need from this world, once you leave, you can’t come back and change your mind.
ReplyWhat this person said. Then again I would assume atheists shouldn’t fear death anyway because you base beliefs off concrete science. Death’s part of life.
ReplyNothing. It’s like you don’t exist. Like before your birth.
ReplyI don't think it's impossible to overcome the fear of death. I stopped being afraid of death in middle school, I'm just afraid of the pain. I realize that is probably not normal. Weirdly, my fear of death only ended after I stopped believing in the religion I had grown up with. This probably doesn't help in your case, but I felt like I needed to write this down.
ReplyYour response piggybacks off mine: “Then again I would assume atheists shouldn’t fear death anyway because you base beliefs off concrete science. Death’s part of life.”
