You think you know what’s best for me
And I know you want to help
But here’s the thing, just let me be
And then you won’t hear a yelp
Its fibromyalgia I’ll have for life
Although you try and help me by
Sometimes what you say can feel more like a knife
I understand you may not see why
Don’t you see
It’s been since I was ten
This will always be me
A foreign concept to most men
A single day being sick
And you don’t look to happy
So don’t you go and judge so quick
Just one day is not so crappy
It's not common in youth
Maybe something they maybe missed
But it doesn’t stop the truth
That it really does exist
Each day is a unique struggle
You can’t always interfere
I have learned how to juggle
All the things that I must invisibly bear [when you’re no longer here]
From so young I’ve learned to hide
It’s shameful to show weakness
Being sick is not my pride
I’ve been forced into meekness
So please step back
And learn what you can
Because I can’t handle your flak
When there is much learning for your clan
I pray you never get sick
But since that is a likely fate
What I say may just click
And you’ll be happy to have been set straight
