An informal letter to Citizens who feel "entitled" to jobs above their paygrade

Dear “Entitled” Citizens,
Why do people say immigrants are stealing the job of citizens? Clearly these citizens that claim they are being robbed, do not understand the general hiring process. Step one includes filling out an application. Applicants that were found to be suited for the position, generally are called for interviews and then eventually the employer chooses the candidate who will be most valuable for their success, that was step two and then 3.
Out of all the hate that is thrown out to immigrants, “stealing citizen’s jobs” is the most tedious to hear. If you are not qualified for the job, why do you feel entitled to it over an immigrant who is more three times more qualified than you? Go get more experience, go get your degree because trust me that is what impresses an employer. But hey, if you want to play the “I’m a citizen” card, then please by all means go ahead, I’m sure it will get you all you want out of life. No sarcasm intended, well maybe just a tad.
So let me talk a little bit about myself before I get called a hypocrite. I am 23, I am the definition of basic in this American culture. I love fall, pumpkin spiced lattes, yoga pants and your occasional chokers and the phrase OMG, I can’t even, has even slipped from my vocabulary once or twice. But on a side note, let me add that I have never been Americanized enough nor ever will be to own UGGs though, which in my opinion those shoes are what truly need to be terminated from this country; not immigrants.
Besides that, very basic summary of me, on a more interesting note; I also attend college; I’ve sat through hours of chemistry and biology lectures, so yes I am a smart cookie, at least that is what my parents tell me and I choose to believe it. An inspiring person once wrote, “be the change you want to see in the world” and that is why I am a Public Health major. But when I am not trying to make the world a better place, I am trying at least make the world of retail a better place. I am part of management at a large retail company, and yes that was very much a position I earned, just in case you were wondering.
I probably did not change your stance on this issue, and that is okay. We are all entitled to our opinions, it is one of the few things that no one can take away from us, but we are not criminals, we pay our taxes and the jobs that we have, never mistaken that they were earned. If you are a citizen and feel that jobs are being stolen from you, do something about it, go out to the real world, get an entry level job, gain experience, finish school, volunteer. Be better and you will see how that is the key to getting the job.
Sincerely,
Entitled Immigrant
