So I am a college student obviously from the title taking up B.S. in Psychology.
We have this task to be like a parent of a 2 yr old boy for 1 week and after it will have a write up report, observation etc. (About Human Development, Stage of a toddler and parenting)
And I was partnered with our foreign guy. We were like opposite on how to treat a toddler. 'Cause basically we both have a different environment growing up. But we kinda sorted it out along the way...
But you know the funniest part of it this kinda role play parenthood was.
I literally cried myself out when he didn't want the boy to sleep with us at night (we are not like sleeping together in one bed kay? he's on the couch get your dirty mind off here haha)
He told me "It's Independence"
and I lowkey crying "Why would you let a baby, sleep alone?!"
And him being so rational "He's a 2 yr old boy, that means his a toddler"
And me being irrational "HE'S A BABY!" and I completely forgot I am a psychologist in the making, that means the guy was absolutely right. But I feel like I should stand up for what I believe (lol) EMPOWER WOMEN!
Soooo in the end guess who won? Ofcourse me, (evil laugh) kidding, we agreed on both terms to alternate every night, that the boy will be sleeping with us and the next night to his room.
to my conclusion being a parent is not that easy, it's difficult and needs effort, commitment, love & care but most of all PATIENCE. (yeah girl, patience)
And a reminder for myself. When I got married and will have kids. Make another room not a guest room. But a room for myself with everything on it (mini kitchen,cr,living room, everything) when I fight with my husband, won't go out until he realize how hard it is without me ;-) HAHA
P.s. You might be wondering how the boy didn't have a separation anxiety from his parents. The boy's my partner's cousin. And we basically visits him and plays with him for 1 month prior to the actual assignment for him to be familiarize with us.
