We are endemic creatures. We are incapable of thriving anywhere outside our comfort zone. If this similar rule applies to animals, why are people like us subject to such harsh criticism that we do not do enough? Why isn’t society more sympathetic to individuals such as us?
We are gems, we are diamonds that arise every millennia. Why then are we ignored? It must be because we are surrounded by coal, the weight of which pushes down on us, smothers us, encapsulates us in darkness until finally, we are subjected to the same fate of all coal.
Thrown in a furnace.
Shovelled in. Thrown in. Flames all around. The heat. It makes us glow. The pain is intense. It is felt, it is absorbed by our core.
Now there are ashes around us. Coolness. Perhaps they will see us now.
Perhaps. Please see us.
Shovelled out. Thrown out. Wrapped up. Discarded. Us, with the rest of them.
We awaken in a kingdom of metal, garbage, fumes of green, grey.
Perhaps we will live here now. For now. Until the next millennia.
Maybe then the world will see us. Acknowledge us. Until then, we will sleep and wait. Wait, for the sun to shine once more on us, for the light to be captured in every nook and cranny. To be reflected as seven colors, not as one. We use seven, so that just about everyone can see us.
Because we want to be seen. Not hidden. Not discarded in a pile of trash.
Please, someone. Shine your light on us. See us.
