If you’re having thoughts of suicide you need to seek support. Watchwellcast suggests to first channel your emotions into a song, poem, or journal entry. Getting your thoughts written down is therapeutic and Novni is a great anonymous resource to use if you’d rather type than handwrite.
Once you’ve got your thoughts written down try sharing them with someone you trust. Could be a friend, family member, counselor, or anyone else that you’re comfortable with.
Although it may seem like death is the only option that will put an end to your pain, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
According to Watchwellcast, “Depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and schizophrenia are mental illnesses linked to nearly 90% of people who’ve ended their own lives.” Suicidal thoughts themselves aren’t treatable, but the illnesses associated with them are.
Despite the social stigma attached to mental illnesses, there is absolutely no shame in admitting that you might be suffering from one. It may be very difficult for you to speak up about the suicidal thoughts you’re having, but it could save your life.
So what does all of this mean for you? It means there is hope to end your suffering while preserving your life. You don’t have to suffer alone.
