If you live at home and your parents are going through a divorce, it can be very difficult to be subjected to such a toxic environment day in and day out.
Or perhaps your parents are arguing often and you're dealing with the fear that they might split up. No matter what your particular situation is, you need to remember these 4 words.
You are not alone.
If it’s a matter of divorce, which the participants in this video have all personally experienced at some point in their lives, it can be a scary thing. You may be experiencing similar feelings of resentment towards one or both of your parents and that’s perfectly normal.
Divorce can make everyone involved quite uncomfortable. It’s important to have someone to reach out to that is willing to listen. Try reaching out to a friend, teacher, counselor, or anyone else that you trust if you haven't already. Even if they might not have the answers you’re looking for, just knowing they’re there for you and attempting to understand your situation should help ease the discomfort you’re feeling.
If you can’t find strength from others, you can always find strength within yourself. Behind all your self-doubt and pain, there is strength. Even if you don’t believe it and you feel weak, you are stronger than you could ever imagine.
It's common to want to suppress intense emotions of pain, but there are proven benefits to letting your feelings surface sometimes. You're only human and it is okay to have a good cry and let your emotions take over you once in a while. Guys, that includes you too. It's not healthy to bottle up your emotions and it doesn't make you any less of a man.
It may not be easy, but you will get through this. You are built to handle any obstacle that is thrown your way. Sooner or later the toxicity within your family will subside and things will get better.
