my mom is an alcoholic and it just keeps getting worse. my dad tried to help but nothing helps because she doesn’t want to change. they’re talking about getting a divorce if things don’t get better. i’m 17 and my sister is 15. anyway, i have SO much i want to say to my mom. i don’t want to come off rude, some of the stuff may seem rude tho. like i never have friends over bc of her, my friends don’t even know what she looks like and they mention that to me a lot, i think that my mom thinks we have a close relationship when we never hangout, and she knows nothing about. she doesn’t know what i like or don’t like. my friends moms buy my friends random stuff that makes them think of their daughters. i don’t think my mom would even know what to buy for me. i swear she still thinks i’m 12. i want to tell her all of that but i don’t know how and i don’t want to make things worse. i will be a senior next year, then college. i really want to say something and i know it will get worse when i go to college.

Who am I?
Can someone help me? Most of the time I miss opportunities because I don't know who I really am and I hate it so much. When people asked me "tell me...
Explain to her that its hurting you and your family that she is doing what she's doing. Tell her all the stuff you need to tell her. It should get better once she knows that its hurting her kids and that you cant have friends over because of her. I would tell her everything in my heart that needed to come out because if you hold it in it will be a lot more hurtful when you get mad at her its all in your tone and the way you say it just tell her what's in your heart. I am here for you and so is your dad.
Replyit's tough when you have an alcoholic for a parent. believe me, I know this firsthand. the thing is, you could tell her all that and there's a good chance she won't get it anyway. But tell her, along with telling her how her addiction impacts your life. Don't go halfway - tell her all. It may make things worse for a bit, but in this is also the chance for things to be better. Change doesn't happen when people are comfortable so don't be afraid of being uncomfortable.
ReplyMove out once you turn 18 and try helping your sister!
