Hello, I’m sorry if this post causes people to get upset, but this is an issue I’d like to address. Society is pushing to be diverse and that is a great thing. But, some people are going way too far.
First, let me tell you who I am in the ranks of “diversity.” I am a Hispanic woman with Aspergers and anxiety.
I thought I was pretty diverse myself until I went on social media, specifically Instagram and tumblr. Reminder, I support people who are good because I care. I see posts like “ugh I hate straight people” and then they complain about straight people don’t support them. I get that they’re mean but they don’t realize that they’re trying to help them. I hate when people are ungrateful of support given to them.
Thoughts on this kind of stuff?

Something people often assume about me that is not true

My Unsent Letter
Hi, I already told you i'm sorry too many times, but i really am so sorry. I thought just leaving and quit being friends would've stop my feelings for you......
Omg same!!
ReplyI think the same old rule should be applicable for everyone: Treat others how you want to be teeated.
ReplyWith all due respect, the "ugh I hate straight people" isn't serious 99% of the time. The other 1% is hating straight people that take offense to people who aren't straight saying things like that. It's only for you if you don't see the irony of non-straight people saying this because we constantly get it in the other direction. So the minute you see it in a joking light is the exact moment the statement isn't talking about hating you. The reason the joke is said is because of this specific response you gave. We're not "ungrateful", but just because you are diverse in one sense doesn't make you better than someone who's gay and white with no cognitive issues. Source: Queer/Nonbinary person with anxiety who also uses Instagram and Tumblr.
TL;DR: We're not being ungrateful because it's a joke that only has weight with it if you take offense to it.
