I’m 15. My hobbies include playing guitar (I’ve been playing for 7 years now) drawing (for 6 years) painting, sculpting, and learning french.
I’m a pretty good student, but my assignments have to be perfect and I’ll stress over them so much I’ll cry if they aren’t good enough for me. I think I’m bad at guitar for my age and kind of just float around in my hobbies, not being particularly amazing at any of them. I compare myself to others, whether it’s being celebrities, classmates, etc. I use devices to distract myself from my life but whenever I’m alone with my thoughts I spiral. This is happening now. My moods change so quickly. Please help, what do I do?

I Finally Stood Up
I left. I packed my things and left. 2 years of living together. 6 months of heaven. Well over a year of narcissistic abuse of all kinds. I don't know if anyone...
Side note: this causes My hobbies to feel like chores. I’ll never be happy unless I can’t fault it.
ReplyHey,
no one, and I mean no one, is perfect. Don't look to other people to make you happy. Don't be so hard on yourself, either. This is your life. Yours! It's incredible that you have these interests; that you *want* to do well, but you have to keep in mind that it's okay to fail. To be completely honest, it's crucial actually. Don't set up an unrealistic barrier of expectations for yourself, just try your best. Literally. That's all you can do. It looks to me that you've already got it thought out for yourself. You're honest and know what's bothering, which, my friend, is the first step. If playing the guitar, painting, learning french, etc (etc is everything that you consider to be a hobby), aren't making you happy, then drop it. For real. Don't put yourself through these things if they're not benefitting you. But, but- if they are, if they're making you happy and you're worried about your progress within doing these things are afraid of whether or not it's going anywhere, that's up to you.
don't quit something because you feel you're not good at it. Quit it because it's not making you happy. But if it is, if it's making you happy, keep. going. Take this as a challenge and keep going. No one ever said life was going to be easy. Keep working on it!
I, too, am 15. I get what you're saying. I feel alone sometimes too. But listen, it's time for you to target your interests and go. for. them. This is the perfect time for a change. We still have so much time! Don't compare yourself to other people. Literally... Been there, done that, and it gave me nothing but anxiety. Just work on being you! I know it sounds cliche as hell, but you and I, we're in this together. Keep going! I promise it's going to be worth it in the end. Talk w/ someone. A loved one, perhaps. Then you two can figure out the next step<3
Good luck, dude. For real! I hope that you find what you're looking for.
ReplyThank you So much. You don’t know what this means to me. I’m going to try my hardest! I have true love for these things
