Chapter Nine: Folded Paper

When we reached the front door We sat the puppies down and checked for bugs on them. “I think we’re good!” Audrey says in excitement, “Let’s check for wounds in the house then bathe them with a little bit of vinegar.” For the next 2 hours we bathed, groomed, and fed the small pups. The mother growled a few times whenever we picked up a pup but eventually went to sleep. After all that, Ryan came back from the store with dog food, beds, treats, and collars. ‘What are we gonna name them?” I mumble in exhaustion, Audrey shrugs and leans back in the recliner. Ryan sat down in the kitchen sorting out food for each of the pups and the mother. While the dogs ate I walked slowly into the kitchen and stopped to read the folded note. I unfolded it carefully and stared at an unbelievable letter....

“Meet me in the place we saw each other last tomorrow morning.”

My heart started pounding and my legs felt weak I folded the note back and put it back in my pocket. “Adira?” I peeked over the corner and laughed “Hey…” My phone buzzed on the table. I picked it up and read the message I received from ‘Melony’

“Heyyyyyy. You’ve gotta get to this party! Everyone at our schools are here!!! Hurry we’re at Mikey’s place!”

I looked at Ryan and asked. “Wanna go to a party downtown?” He shrugged his shoulders and sat up from the chair. “Sure.”
