So, living in the south has it's ups and downs. Yes, we're friendly.. speak to everybody on the streets or in markets or whatever but then this situation occurs. As a young black lady, i'm open minded.. I don't care what ethnicity a guy is long as he treats me right. I've been hanging out with this nice white guy for a while. We're good friends and can talk about anything. He's sweet and caring and we've admitted that we somewhat have feelings for each other it's just a confusing time right now. I don't think he notices but every time we go to a restaurant, movies or dancing, it's like we're constantly on watch. I've even been confronted about it but not around him, I just want to know how to talk to him about the whole interracial dating thing because believe it or not in 2020 there's still ignorant people that find enjoyment of belittling someone over the color of their skin. I'd like to think that it's just all in my head and maybe i'm overreacting but my cousin who married a lovely lady who happens to be white have had some of the same issues as to what i'm going through

Hello. Okay. So here we go... I was in a relationship for 8 months where I fell in love for the first time. We both fell in love very hard and very fast. I k...
Yeah i know how that goes i grew up in the south and know how the racism stuff goes. Basicly if youre happy together thats really all that matters in my opinion. If others dont like it thats their issue. I suppose maybe you should say before things go further people have been giving us looks i guessbecause they dont quite accept it.
ReplyFamily will always find something to complain about. In the end they will respect you more for asserting what you want and doing what you want.
Replyit's not family that I have an issue with, it's just every time we hang out it's always the glares, the sudden level of an uncomfortable feeling when we enter a restaurant or the subtle comments people would say when we walk by. I don't think he hears them but I certainly do and I just wanted to know a way to talk to him about it.
ReplyThere are white people who don't think whites should date blacks. Asian men are being left behind because Asian girls want western men, and western girls won't date Asian men. Ignore strangers around you who have nothing else to do but look at others around the place. Be happy doing your own thing in your own skin.
