So i got a job teaching my instrument. I have to teach very young children and i have never worked with children. Nor have i ever taught this instrument. Ive been playing for 12 years, but i learned in an unconventional way. Not really by the book. Im super excited for the job but also really anxious. Im not hired on completely until i get enough good feedback. I didnt even start yet or have a start date and the thought of it is making my stomach mesed up, its making me sweat. This is a really good opportunity for me, for some reason i only see the negatives in things. I get really bad anxiety, because this would be an amazing position long term. Im just worried about failing. The day i got this job I felt overjoyed. It felt like the world all came together. Now i just cant stop stressing about it.

This happens. All you can do is your best at the time. Being anxious about it won't help. Once you start and know what you are doing all of the anxiety will disappear and you will be fine. When you know you have prepared yourself properly you should feel confident enough to proceed. Also make sure you have mastered the instrument and have set instructions for the kids to follow. You will be perfectly all right.
ReplyI don't play any instruments but I know that kids are very forgiving and smarter than given credit for. If you treat them like a normal human they will LOVE you for it just talk to them like you would a regular person and I bet they'll think you're the best teacher ever.
