I wasn't as nervous as many in the beginning but this pandemic is starting to make me panic. I'm not a social butterfly so I thought I could deal with the isolation fairly well yet it's starting to get to me despite the fact that I enjoy my isolation up to a point. I'm beginning to feel stir crazy and I'm also beginning to worry about becoming sick myself despite limiting my time around others as much as possible. The virus while we knew it would eventually appear was a lot slower to show itself where I live and while the numbers are still low they're beginning to rise in the surrounding area. They're predicting a major spike in my state soon which does little to help my nerves. The government officials haven't helped much either as they were slow to close public areas, slow to close businesses, and just slow to act overall. I live in the south yet am exasperated at seeing gun stores considered an essential business but can understand liquor stores remaining open as I think people would riot. I'm also irritated that while where I live all but 1 local church has closed that statewide churches are allowed to remain open. I consider myself a Christian but I don't think having the churches open is a necessity esp when it endangers lives. A few weeks ago the governor stated non-essential businesses were to close, restaurants were only allowed to sell via drive-through or curbside, public places like beaches were closed, schools were closed, etc. and only recently a stay at home order was issued which to my dismay essentially says the exact same thing. It says to paraphrase people are allowed to shop for essentials, visit relatives, attend religious gathers, and work(if your business is allowed to be open). I was completely flabbergasted yet I was informed despite businesses following these guidelines already that before it was only a "strong suggestion" and now they can prosecute people for breaking the order which to me still sounds like a way of doing nothing yet pretending you're doing something. Church services, weddings, and funerals while things you want to attend are not necessary as people have been known to spread the virus at these events. I have a cousin who due to being vulnerable had to cancel their own wedding because they could become very ill if infected so I know people hate to cancel these events yet it's necessary. As far as funerals go I understand a desire to be there but think of the health of others if not your own and as far as religious services go...read your bible at home. My governor dragged their feet saying they didn't want people to lose needed income and while I understand that we have had the number of infected rapidly grow over a a short period while no actions were taken to stop it. Now I fear it's too late to have done any good and the actions finally taken weren't strong enough.
