I am 23 and haven’t had a proper long-term job due to being in college/university for 5 years. My first degree was in teaching, my second postgraduate diploma/certificate in nursing.
I realise now I don’t want to be a nurse, but after talking to my friends they think I’m being stupid and immature for wanting another career. That I should settle down.
I want to pursue another degree in marine biology, it will take 4 years and I will have to pay myself.
My mental health is suffering because I’m lost. My mum is saying I need to get a job but I can’t do nursing.
I just don’t know what to do. My heart and my head are killing each other.

How passionate are you about marine biology?
ReplyI am passionate about biology and about marine life. I just don’t have enough experience and was thinking about taking a gap year or half year to figure it out
ReplyA gap year to build up your application ? 4 years is not a lot in proportion to your whole career life. You just need to be really certain that marine biology what you want or else you might find yourself regretting the extra costs and time in the future. If you are truly passionate and dedicated, what your giving up will be worth it. Either path you take, don't go through it half heartedly.
