It's the beginning of my senior year of college and I'm living off campus for the first time. I am living with a girl I know but not very well, and she is often off with her boyfriend or working or on trips, so I've spent most of my first week before classes start completely alone. My boyfriend doesn't move onto campus for another few days. I do have friends living on campus as well, but for many reasons have been unable to see them much. For one, the pandemic makes it hard to justify going out without purpose much at all. But also all my friends are living together, so it feels very much like they have no reason to include me at all in their plans. I am a part of their group chat, but again, they're living together, so I am not present for what I assume is many hours of casual hangouts and conversations. I feel dreadfully alone and extremely unneeded. I feel like a burden every time I ask to make plans with them, because I know they have to go out of their way to include me when on a day to day basis they can just casually hang out without even leaving their apartment. I feel like this is how the rest of my college experience will be. I'll be able to hang out with my boyfriend, sure, but seeing my friends will be a drag and a burden on them and I'll spend most of my days alone. I don't know how I'm going to handle this on top of the stress of my final semesters at college.

Is it possible that these friends of yours would include you more if you reached out to them? Maybe a text "it's lonely over here :( ," or even invite them over (unless you're worried about the pandemic)
