Umm...hi.
So I'm on that point in life where I need to decide on what career I should take. My choices and my family's choices are really conflicting.
I really love science and medicine. It has been my best interest since I was younger, until today. I am always driven by my passion for pursuing medicine. It was the reason why I study hard at school and do my best as a student. I would often picture myself in that white coat with a stethoscope around my neck, helping the sick, but my parents...well, they don't like it. Especially in this pandemic where the medical front liners are battling face to face with COVID-19. Not to mention, the amount of money you will spend on school.
My parents on the other hand wanted me to become a lawyer because they think that it's the safest option for me. My cousin, a lawyer, is willing to help me get a scholarship of some kind that will reduce my tuition fee in half. I'm not so sure about law since it's not what I wanted.
The thing is...my family is struggling this year and I think I won't make it into the dream I always wanted. I know that in reality the dream that you always dream sometimes will never come true and I'm really perplexed about which path should I take.
Should I pursue my dreams as a doctor?
Or...
Should I just be realistic and just become a lawyer?

WORK THINGS🤔
Soo I have this co worker who I’ve had a good friendship with at my job. He recently got cheated on and is 31! I’m 22. So to be honest I’ve always seen hi...
I think it's better to take some risks and do something you love than to take the safe route that leads to a job you hate.
ReplyThis is hard to say because the idea of being a doctor is different to actually doing the work, so you might not like it. Where as you aren't keen on being a lawyer yet you might enjoy the work - especially the challenge in court rooms. So I suggest that if you are a person you enjoys a challenge study law, but if the idea of helping sick people recover better than that go for your dream of being a doctor. Explain to your parents that Covid-19 is a flu and with you being young you should easily recover from it. The fees should be able to be paid off from your pay after you have your degree and are working. This is your life not your parent's. They had their chances when they were young. They should be happy for you with whatever you choose.
ReplyYou know, being a doctor is not just as easy as it sounds. Medicine requires sacrifice of your youth. Believe it or not that's the truth. You are studying when your friends are enjoying their college, you're studying when your friends get placed and you're still studying when your friends are settled. Between this studying, you'll definitely find your me-time, make friends, visit your family and all that. But still the first and only thing in your mind would always be your career. You'll miss out some occasions, study day and night, give exams and all. And studying it means loving it first. If you're in love medicine and the human body, its functions, science behind it and all the things related to this field only then you'll be able to tolerate it. If you love you, if you don't expect it to give you easy life, if you are fine with studying for your curiosity and love. Then just go for it. After medicine, your quality of life and your profession will be worth your hardwork.
Lawyer is profesion which is tough but gives your easy life if you get your degree from top college. Lawyers earn a lot and it is very reputed job too.
Learning never ends in medicine and lawyers tol need to keep up with new things about country. Whatever you decide I just wanna say only do that if you're willing to do. No parental pressure no peer pressure.
All the best :)
Btw I'm pursuing medicine. And my sister would soon be a doctor.
