my grandma and I have been in a little bit of a fight within the last few months. my birthday is next week (I’ll be 17) and I told my mom not to invite my grandma because it wouldn’t make sense since we haven’t worked this thing out yet. it would be awkward and uncomfortable for the both of us. but, I just found out my mom went ahead and invited her and everything. my mom disrespected me and ignored me. If she wanted me to not do something like that for her, I’d do because I have respect for her. but since I’m not an adult, it doesn’t matter. I deserve no respect for anything because everything is always about my parents in ANY situation. and now they’re mad at me for being upset

you are not in the wrong. Your mom should totally respect your decision. Even though she might be your grandmother some people, family, aren't actually family because of blood. It all depends how they treat you. You have one more year. Once you turn 18 you can finally make your own decisions because you are an adult. Stay strong. Love you, stranger <3
