Empty and alone the heart's eyes dart in darkness searching for soothing words, anything to slumber on. Tired and heavy it refuses to rest, gnawing at itself in agony. Blood pours out in rage and desperation, only wanting to be coddled by a warm soul. A black serpent slithered to the heart, its eyes a pool of deception, smiled at the heart claiming to hear its pleas and cries. "Beautiful yellow eyes." Said the unknowing heart. The serpent slowly and carefully wrapped itself around the heart letting no light seep through. "You want to be warm. Let me be your pillow. I will not hurt you." The serpent said soothingly letting deceit slip through its lips. Happily the heart willingly allowed the serpent to warm it. After it had fully wrapped itself the heart realized he had yet to feel anything. Scales just as cold as the air around them. The heart looked up to the serpent staring at it with sharp eyes. In seconds the heart could no longer see the eyes inside a jaw. Pierced by two knives in its back, it slid down the throat of the serpent. In extreme pain the venom bled through the heart, causing it to throb after time. "Warm. It's so warm." The heart said quietly, ignoring the pain to feel the warmth. Its eyes closed, embracing the darkness that surrounded it. The serpent uncoiled itself revealing a large bump in its body. Its head perked up looking around, the forked tongue shaking as it emerged from a slit in the serpent's mouth. It placed head on the grass, slithering away, becoming one with the dark void. A warm heart for a cold body.

Betrayal isn't easy to handle even after you gave it your all and handed the other person the key to your heart. After using up all your heart, the snake ran off to find a new source of warmth and left you with a stone-cold heart. A cold heart dripping with poison leaking out from the two holes made by the knives. Who can fix it, who can cleanse the poison and patch up those holes? Who knows, but maybe you can start by warming the heart before it falls into the darkness. You have to rely on yourself to pick up your pieces but friends and families can help mend those pieces. A broken heart can't be fixed they say but I believe you do not fix it built a new one.
