9th grade, that is when my fear of physics started. I never understood it well but just read it and remembered the formulas got good marks and then in 11th grade I had very much difficulty in understanding the concepts and the Phobia of physics gave me depression and anxiety. I was literally scared of physics. Though I tried to learn it, read many textbooks many times but still couldn't get it so I gave up in 12th grade. And I used love mathematics so I just concentrated on it. And then I passed 11th and 12th grade and I guess by luck I got a nice rank and got into an engineering college. Tbh I didn't know in which course I should get into. The main courses were CSE,ECE,EEE,Mechanics but with the rank I got I couldn't get into my favourite clg in any other course other than mechanical engineering. So I got into it hoping I would get physics or understand it. My 1st year of engineering passed had no core subjects so it was fun. But then in the 2nd year all of the concepts that I didn't or couldn't understand in my 11th are completely here. I couldn't understand physics and can't too. I'm afraid right now. My depression was just getting better but now I feel like I'm again going to be depressed. I can't understand the concepts in mechanical engineering now and I don't know how it will be in future. Help me out. I don't know what to do. I'm scared.

i thought i was doing fine. believe it or not but this whole lockdown thing had been pretty good for me. for the first time i didn't feel like i was the only on...
You don't have to be scared, but it is understandable why you feel this way. It's ok not to understand something, and it's also ok to ask for help so you can understand it. I don't think it is impossible for you to understand, and I encourage you to not give up if this is helping you work toward what you want in life. Maybe you need to visit some office hours, (idk if you're online or not, but there are probably still office hours) and ask your professor to walk you slowly through problems/questions. If you notice there is something you don't understand when they are explaining, try expressing your need to delve deeper into what is being said so you can understand what is going on. Most professors I've come across seem to want students to learn, and I mean you are paying them to help you learn, so they are often happy to help. So, if you haven't tried it, maybe give visiting an office hour some consideration. You also may already know about Khan Academy, but it is a great online resource that is free. I looked into it, and there seems to be a lot of information on Physics. I hope you will feel better and things will go well for this semester.
ReplyI feel the same with you but not only in physics any subject that are math related I always cry and ask myself why I have to be so Dumb at all times even a simple math problems I can't even solve it
ReplyI hope we both can get through this phase.
Tbh when I was in 4th my biggest fear was maths but that changed when we got a new maths teacher in 5th grade. And he was such a great teacher I respected him a lot and I started liking maths too. And let me tell you the only subject that helped me get through my 11th and 12th was Maths. Weird right? I used to be afraid of maths but maths is my favourite subject now.
So I hope you get a nice maths teacher or I hope you find a nice youtube tutor that might help you get through this.
I hope this helps.
ReplyWell I hope that I'll like math too someday well I don't really hate it, I'm just afraid of it because I always mess it up
