So we literally are just moving in today and this dude literally tries to come up to my window, places his hand up against it and tries to push it open...
As if there hasn't been enough stress for the last few weeks! So I called the cops and they're apparently unable to do anything because he lives upstairs and is in the process of being evicted. So he just refused to open his door... So nothing else happens beyond that.
Perfect.
This is the second time someone has tried to break into this apartment. The first time was before we moved in and the person who broke in stripped the internet cables. So we aren't able to connect to the internet beyond using our phones for now.
I've never used renter's insurance or a security service but considering everything, seems we're going to have to get both. Yay... more money that has to be spent that we didn't have to spend before! Super!!
And it all goes without saying that this new apartment our landlord moved us into has TONS of damage ALL over. Plenty of cracks in the walls, two broken windows, the fridge smells like something died in it (I researched it and apparently it's likely do to a mechanical failure. It's supposed to be taken care of by Monday), we don't currently have a stove either which is also supposed to be taken care of by Monday. The painters apparently didn't know you could place plastic on the floor to prevent paint getting all over the floor. So we've got paint dust all over the place, there's a section of the foundation that is visible and it has a rather large crack running across the length of it. The bath tub looks like someone stuck a weed whacker in it and just went hog wild. The enamel is torn to shreds.
Then you've got the added stress of this being an imposed emergency move because the owners weren't fond of making repairs to our old apartment! This place is literally more run down than those apartments!
The carpet was recently ripped out so there's carpet glue all over the floors, the door looks like it hasn't been replaced since the day it was installed over a hundred years ago. It literally still has an old time keyhole! Our only functional lock is our deadbolt, the rest don't work. One of our windows can't lock so I'm going to have to nail it shut before someone decides to try and open that one up!
It's just a ton of stress that has been building up for the last two weeks just trying to get our landlord to even move us because our water was out and they didn't want to make repairs. Just for today to come along and oh hey! Just along the way let's show you just how bad it is literally 5 or 6 blocks from where you used to live! Why not?!
To think we've got a year to deal with all of this nonsense! I'm already just done!! I cannot express that enough.
We still have stuff to move here from the old apartment too! Time's ticking on that right now and I just cannot... I'm already severely depressed, I've already felt suicidal for over a year, everything in my life just keeps going topsy turvy and I am just tired of it... I can't deal with this. I just don't want to wake up anymore, I'm sick of everything always going wrong!!
